Finding Osmanbey station from the hotel

Osmanbey station, on M2, is about a six-minute walk from Halifaks Hotel for M2 journeys across Istanbul. Use it to begin a trip on the metro line that runs between Yenikapı and Hacıosman.

For journeys that call for a different line, Şişli-Mecidiyeköy is another interchange station, with connections to M7 and Metrobus. The choice between the two depends on the route: Osmanbey gets you onto M2, while Şişli-Mecidiyeköy offers those additional connections.

The M2 line’s first section, between Taksim and Levent, opened in 2000 after construction began in 1992. Today, the line spans 23.49 km and has 16 stations.

How do you get across Istanbul on the M2 metro?

How do you get across Istanbul on the M2 metro?

M2 connects Osmanbey with major transfer points across Istanbul, so you can change lines rather than stay on the metro for every part of a journey.

At Yenikapı, transfer to M1A, M1B, T6 or Marmaray. Şişli-Mecidiyeköy connects with M7 and Metrobus; Gayrettepe connects with M11 and Metrobus; and Levent connects with M6. These interchanges give you options for reaching other parts of the city.

For tram and funicular connections, change at Taksim for the F1 Taksim–Kabataş funicular or T2 Istiklal Avenue tram. At Şişhane, you can transfer to the F2 Karaköy–Beyoğlu Historical Tunnel or T2. Haliç connects with the T5 Eminönü–Alibeyköy tram.

If your destination is Seyrantepe, change at Sanayi Mahallesi. The transfer is to a separate platform area, but you do not need to leave the system.

Fares, cards and transfers

Fares, cards and transfers

An İstanbulkart is the reusable travel card option, and you can get one and add credit at Biletmatik vending machines in stations.

The anonymous İstanbulkart full fare is 46.20 ₺, with discounted fares for students and social-card holders. Electronic tickets are available in one-, two-, three-, four-, five- and ten-pass options. Fares can change, so check the official site before you go.

If you use a discounted or free travel card, station staff or security may ask you to show valid identification along with the card. Keep both accessible when passing through stations.

When to use buses, ferries and walking

When to use buses, ferries and walking

Metrobus is a practical transfer to consider at Şişli-Mecidiyeköy or Gayrettepe, while M2 interchanges at Haliç and Taksim connect you to tram routes. These links make it possible to combine metro travel with surface transit and, via the connected network, ferries.

M2 is part of the 24-hour Night Metro service on nights connecting Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday. Night Metro does not run between Sanayi Mahallesi and Seyrantepe. Regular M2 hours are 06:00–00:00, and service patterns can vary, so check the official site before you go.

Walking can also suit short trips around Şişli. A Şişli walking route links local stops without making each leg a transit ride.

Airport arrival planning is a separate part of the journey from using M2 around the city.

The Istanbul Airport transfer to Halifaks Hotel covers that trip.
